Story

It's heart breaking when you hear someone say  " I wanted to pray, and I couldn't even wash my hands, the children don't shower, we don't do laundry, we buy water from private companies and it's barely enough for cooking" when I heard that I couldn't bear to stand by for another second and do nothing. The conflict in Gaza has had a heavy toll on the strips already fragile water infranstructure,  leaving the territory's 1.8 million residents facing an imminent water crisis, prior to the current escalation Gaza already suffered from a water crisis, there was a limited availability of water resources. Since the start of the resent Israeli assault on Gaza which started on the 8th July 2014 the water and waste water infrastructure in Gaza has been heavily affected by the air strikes which have hit vital water and sewerage systems as a result of this the water supply or sewage services to 1.2 million people have been cut or severely disrupted. Damages to vital main water pipelines and water reservoir affect the population across the gaza strip the Israeli air strikes have destroyed water and sewerage systems and Israeli warplanes have targeted five water pipelines that supply large numbers of Gazans, each line provides water to 20,000 people now as many as 100,000 could be affected. The lack of access to clean drinking water, and shortage of water sanitation as well as major damages to sewages systems pose a risk of water-borne diseases and health related issues. Islamic help is working with the Palestinin water Authority to alleviate some of the problems of the Gaza population, with the Gaza 100 water challenge, we have pledged to help rebuild a new water plant in Gaza, the cost will be £100,000 to construct and will provide clean water to nearly 10,000 people every day. The new plant will be at Wadi As Salqa where the water facility that was supplying water to local residents was destroyed by the Israeli air strikes. Let's all help the people of Gaza I think we can all agree they have suffered enough, by providing them with clean water. Please support the Islamic Helps 100 water challenge for Gaza by sponsering me, just think what if this was your Family or your Kids. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who has sponsored me to take part in the climb, THANK YOU ALL.
