Story
First of all I'd just like to say thank you for visiting my just giving page. After reading the passage below please donate whatever you can.
I've teamed up with WIH London to raise funds for ST MUNGO's CHARITY and to raise awareness about homelessness in the UK.
Homelessness is a real issue in the society that we live in today and government statistics state that in London alone, 6,437 people slept rough throughout 2012/13 - a 62 per cent rise in just two years!
So on Friday 22 of November, along with many others I will sleep out in London. We are so fortunate to have warm beds, heating and all the other luxuries which protect us from all kinds of severe weather. I’m hoping sleeping out will make me appreciate the comfortable life I have.
The exact number of homeless people is difficult to calculate as the nature of the homeless population and because the various forms of homelessness. However, statistics show that there are thousands in the UK.
A little about the charity:
ST Mungo’s began helping people sleeping rough off the streets in 1969.
St Mungo's has four clear objectives which are at the root of everything we do:
· to prevent homelessness and the exclusion that embeds it
· to alleviate homelessness and exclusion
· to assist personalised recovery for homeless and excluded people
· to influence policy that affects homeless and excluded people.
Their vision is that everyone should have a decent place to live, enjoy good health, and have something meaningful to do - and also have satisfying relationships
Their mission is to house, support and care for vulnerable and excluded people who either have been, or are at risk of, sleeping rough and homelessness.
Their aim is to make sure that homeless and excluded people can improve their quality of life.
It is for these reasons I have decided to support WIH London in raising funds for ST Mungo's as homelessness is a serious issue which needs to be tackled.
