We fund research into pregnancy problems to save babies' lives

Story

On 29th June 2020 we gave birth to our first child, our beautiful daughter, Arta. Unfortunately Arta was stillborn and born sleeping at 25 + 4 weeks.

My pregnancy up until then had been a healthy and smooth one, but having noticed that Arta hadn’t moved one day I called the hospital and was told to come in for a check up to be safe. Unfortunately the news that followed was the unthinkable and it was on 27th June that we were told Arta’s little heartbeat had stopped. Within the next 48 hours I was to be induced to deliver our precious girl into the world.

Arta’s birth was an incredibly peaceful yet euphoric experience and I am so privileged to have gone through this final journey with her and deliver her into this world. The NHS staff and midwife during my labour were amazing and couldn’t have made me feel more safe or at ease during a time that was so tragic and something I initially was so terrified of.

We loved every last moment we got to have with Arta and she will forever be Mummy and Daddy’s little girl. We are amazed how much she has already touched the hearts of so many of our friends and family and are blessed to know she will never be forgotten and although we never got to bring our baby girl home the love for her is forever in our hearts, she will always be with us.

In memory of our first child and beautiful daughter Arta we would like to raise funds for Tommy’s charity who provide outstanding research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provide pregnancy health information to parents.

We want to try and turn our heartbreaking experience into something positive in the hope of funding more valuable and desperately needed research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.

We are still waiting results of a post mortem to find out the cause for Arta’s passing but are well aware that in 60% of cases parents are left without any answers. With the money we raise for Tommy’s we hope to be able to fund more research into baby loss and help reduce the number of stillbirth and neonatal deaths in the future as well as help parents of baby loss find answers.

Before experiencing baby loss first hand we had very little knowledge of stillbirth or neonatal loss and have found the stats in the UK astonishing. 8 babies a day are stillborn, that’s 1 in every 250 pregnancies. The more research that can be done, the better chance of reducing these numbers and preventing families from experiencing the devastating and life changing events of baby loss.

Our journey as parents is not your usual but we still want to be the best mummy and daddy to Arta that we can, and with this in mind we want to share her story and ours in the hope we can help make some sort of difference.

For Arta, our golden girl, and all the sleeping babies, too precious for this world. We love you.

Thanks for taking the time to read our story, we really appreciate it and anything you can donate for this cause would mean the world to us.

Sunny, George and Arta xx
