Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am walking form Knoydart on the far west of Scotland to Carnoustie on the east coast of Scotland, a total of around 200 miles. This challenge is to raise vital funds for research into MeCP2 Duplcation Syndrome.

Sadly, our friend's son, Blake was diagnosed with this at 3 weeks old. It is a cruel and debilitating condition which means he will probably never walk or talk, have severe, uncontrolled epilepsy and will suffer from recurrent  chest infections which can be fatal. This is just a brief summary and he will undoubtedly have a whole host of other problems.

However, there is HOPE! Scientists are very positive that a cure or at least, treatments can be found within the next decade. These studies require a huge amount of funds and we are desperate to get them funded as soon as possible to give Blake the chance of a happier, healthier future. There is no government funding into this condition, so the onus is on family and friends to raise the money.

I urge you all to spare a few £'s to help wee Blake and all the others who suffer from this awful condition. All we want is for Blake to be able to play and run around with his sister, cousins and friends and live a normal, healthy life.

Many thanks,

Arthur
