Story
Arthur was born in April 2013. When he was 2 days old he had his first seizure and this was the beginning of a long & difficult journey for Arthur, his parents, friends and family, which included a 10 week stay at Southampton General Hospital. Sadly Arthur has been diagnosed with a very rare & life-limiting epilepsy syndrome called ‘Migrating partial seizures in infancy’ or MPSI.
Arthur and his parents have met lots of wonderful people & organisations along their journey but the one that stands out is Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice is Sussex. They provide a range of support for Arthur & will continue to do so throughout his too short life. It costs £6,850 a day to provide these services to children like Arthur & Chestnut Tree House relies heavily on the generosity, help and support of others.
Lots of people have said to Arthur’s Mum and Dad that they would like to raise money for Chestnut Tree House and so they have decided they would like to ‘Pay for a Day’ and raise the £6,850 needed for a single days services at Chestnut Tree House. While all donations will be gratefully received Arthur’s parents would like it if you did something to raise the money, and as a result made memories for yourself as well as helping a great cause. You could do a sponsored run, walk or swim. Something bigger like the Three Peaks Challenge or a sky dive. Or something far less energetic like a cake sale, fancy dress day or raffle. You could even shave your head! The possibilities are endless and with 2013 drawing to a close many people are looking for challenges and New Year’s resolutions for 2014, maybe becoming an ‘Arthur’s Adventurer’ could be yours?
This Facebook page has been created to share ideas, inspiration and events from the fundraising journey and a Just Giving account for the funds, details of which are below.
