Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Thank you for reading!  Some of you will already know my family, and have seen the drastic changes and effects stroke has caused us but more specifically my mum.

I want to raise some cash for the Stroke Association to somehow help other families.

  • In AUG 2016 a week before my mum turned 66, she was out cycling in the New Forest with her family, and grandsons.  She had just come back from a family holiday in Ibiza - no not at partying-chilling!, she had another holiday booked with her grandsons, and was due to go to Spain with her brother...just getting into being semi retired.
  • No health issues.
  • BANG.

  • STROKE.

  •  ROBBED MY MUM.
  • OUR FAMILY.

  • STROKE DEVESTATED US LIKE IT DOES ALL THE FAMILIES THAT ENDURE THIS CRUEL TWIST OF LIFE.
  • AFTER SOME TIME In Hospital and recovering, my mum started to rebuild her life...then
  • BANG.
  • 2nd Stroke.
  • much worse.
  • My mum was in hospital from December including Christmas through till April..
  • when she returned home she couldn't walk use her left arm and had to live in the living room, including using commode, with carers coming in etc
  • LUCKY.
  • In the wrong frame of mind its hard to think we were lucky.
  • BUT WE ARE.
  • Two years on my mum has overcome a thousand issues too personal and detailed to list here, but she has;
  • Moved house.
  • Learnt to walk again about 30 metres with a stick and can manage small steps in and out of a house.
  • learnt  new ways to Makes Sandwiches and cups of tea
  • Enjoyed nights out for dinner
  • Still laughs
  • Sure things are hard and extremely difficult and so so different for our family,
  • but no matter what,
  • my mum is still my mum.
  • she is still my dad's wife.
  • she is still nanny to my boys
  • she is still Trish.

I can not explain here the range of emotions families and the sufferer of a stroke go through.  Like any illness, daily living can be a struggle.

Please if you can, donate to the Stroke Association to help others.  To help research. There are an enormous amount of great charities to help, but I would love you  to donate to the Stroke association whatever you can afford....£1.00 £5.00 £10.00, any amount will go towards helping another family.

If I hit my target of £300.00 I will offer 5 winners at random a free sports therapy massage (this will include the highest donor).

Thank you for reading.

Have a great day.

Ash :)
