Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  Below are our stories for taking on the challenge:

Becky - I am walking for my husband John. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) 5 years ago. He had treatment at the Royal Marsden and throughout kept positive for me and for our children. He has never ever felt sorry for himself and continues to view the experience as an inconvenience rather than a problem! He continues to visit the consultant every 3 months and lives with the knowledge that this thing may not go away but it can be treated.   If he can live with myeloma with such a fantastic positive attitude then the least I can do is walk to raise a few quid to help John and other people in their fight".

Karen - This is a personal challenge for me with a positive focus on raising money for a worthy cause.  So a cure can be found to beat this terrible disease soon, therefore protecting the future of our Children and the many generations to follow.                                                         Fortunately I have not had to experience losing anyone because of or anyone close to me fighting this horrible disease,  but have seen the devastating effect it has on others who have lost someone as a result of this disease.   So please help us in our 24 mile challenge and give generously.

Maria - I am walking for my friends and family that have lost their fight and those that have  battled and won against cancer.  Cancer affects everyone and I would like to be part of a time when it doesn't, and the only way we can make this happen is to fund research.  Please give generously to a very worthy cause and aim for time when cancer losses every time.

Raluca - My story for fundraising is inspired by people around me who have either survived or who lost the battle to this illness. I find their strength when faced with the news or throughout treatment a true inspiration. In their name and for our future and the future of our children, I signed up to the challenge!                                                                   A small effort (well 24 miles of hills' walking in one day - eek).. for a big cause!   Anything you can give, no matter how little is to fund research to have more survivors and eventually find the cause and beat this illness once and for all!
