Story
Alreet, how's it ganin? Hope your well, wherever and whoever you are!
I'm walking 55 miles around Manchester from 7pm Friday 4th March till 6pm the next day with a bunch of other student from student action. We do what it says in the name, students act, with and for the most marginalised people in society.
Homelessness has always persisted in the UK despite the efforts of governments past and present. But in 2016 it is approaching 'Cathy come home' levels, particularly in Manchester.
The current government cuts funds and shifts blame to councils, and as cities modernise, privatise and grow higher they still leave people in the streets.
On the new concentrate pavements are homeless people. More likely to have mental health issues, addiction problems, suffered abuse, been housed in institutions, average age of death of homeless in UK is 47, they are the most marginalised people in society.
The Boothe centre does the kind of work we all at student action aspire to deliver one day. Help, support and friendship in a place of safety to this diverse marginalised proportion of society.
Please spare a few pennies of your hard earned, scrounged or handed on a plate cash to contribute towards offering a genuinely brilliant support system for those most in need in our filthy rich country.
Love, Ash x
