<p>Greetings!</p> <p>Thanks for visiting my page. I recently completed the Brighton Marathon in 3hrs 42mins and 28 seconds. I'm raising money for the charity WWTB.</p> <p>The charity I will be fundraising for is World Without TB. Roughly, Tuberculosis (TB) kills 2 million people every year and 2 billion people are estimated to be silently or &acute;latently&acute; infected. Only a small proportion develop active disease, the risk of this is vastly increased by other diseases, including HIV. TB can be treated with drugs but the time needed for treatment (at least 6 months) means many patients may not be able to afford, access or complete this treatment, especially in resource poor areas.</p> <p class="maintext">The WWTB charity mission is the global eradication of tuberculosis through the identification of safe and effective treatment regimens of very short durations.This charity helps establish and fund clinical trials aimed at achieveing this, and by reducing the treatment duration, more patients could complete treatment leading to more people cured and a reduction in the rise of drug resistant TB.
