Story

My challenge for 2012 involves running a total of 310miles/500km's across 2 of the world's most forbidding deserts.

In March I will run 6 marathons in 6 days across the Atacama Desert (Chile) whilst carrying all of my own gear, food and clothing in a backpack. The entire race will be held between 2,500m and 3,000m above sea level, at temperatures in excess of 40 degrees Celsius.

Once complete I then set my sights on the coldest place on earth, heading to Antarctica in November to complete a further 6 marathons in 6 days. This time in snowy/icy conditions, varying in depth from just a few centimetres to over 1 meter deep, and temperatures of negative 20 Celsius.

The only external assistance I will be provided is water, a tent, and medical assistance.

Once complete I will have run a total of 18 marathons across 3 of the world's most extreme deserts - Sahara, Atacama, and Antarctica.

I will be raising money for the Oundle School Mencap charity, an incredible charity run by volunteers that provide children with learning disabilities a chance to leave their homes for a week every summer, to play, and have loads of fun, whilst being cared for by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thankyou for your support,
