Ateeq Rafiq is raising money for Discover Islam Luton
Story
AssalamuAlaykum brothers and sisters ? I hope you are well and in the best of health and Imaan. Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.
On the 16th of December, I will be shooting 1000 arrows for charity based in Luton dedicated to working and serving people of this town.
Local friends and families in Luton set up the Discover Islam centre to provide a voice for the Muslim community to present their faith and deliver social initiatives to support the most needy in society.
in the last 5 years, here are a few of their success projects:
- Islamic material for those who have shown interest in Islam, providing free copies of the Quran and base on this they may have embraced Islam due to the fantastic work they are doing.
- Helping to set up and support Luton Food Bank donating more than 50,000 food items since it was established
- Feeding 100 Homeless people weekly every Friday through the Curry Kitchen delivered in partnership of Community Interest Luton.
- Holding Bedfordshire's only Uniform
- Exchange which works with more than 30 schools to provide uniforms to choldren in need locally in partnership with the Level Trust
- Providing gifts to children in care annually in parternship with Luton Borough Council Fostering Teams.
- Launching the Heat Luton campaign In partnership with Age Conern Luton to combat fuel poverty and support Lutons elderly community and local households in need.
- Delivering presentations to thousands of school children.
- Hosting an annual Hajj Exhibition In partnership with Luton culture.
- Organising an annual Fastathon in Ramadan encouraging everyone to skip lunch and support a good local cause
- Training public and private sector organisations on Islam awareness and cultural diversity. Professional guideance has been provided to the football association, Bedfordshire Police & Prisons services, the NHS, CHUMS Bereavement services, Active Luton and INSET training for school teachers and management.
- Supporting Mosque open days locally
- Volunteering at Luton Half Marathon
- Hosting the uprising youth annual review workshop
- Promising Blood donations with the local blood bank
- Supporting charitable causes locally including Keech Hospice, Friends of Bright Eyes, L&D Hospital and many more.
Please donate generously as much or even as little as possible as every little will help this beautiful charity to do the work they are doing in aid of the community.
