My story

‘Complete up to 78.6 miles (3 marathons) over 3 days by walking, running or crawling, pitting your mental and physical prowess against some of the wildest coastline in Britain.’

Yes, crazy but true...we are taking part in the Votwo Atlantic Challenge, from Fri 1st until Sun 3rd October 2010.  It is a three day race, consisting of one marathon per day, winding its tortuous way along the Atlantic Coast Path.  Starting near Padstow, day one will take us to St Agnes, day two should see us reach St Ives and finally, day three the challenge will be met, on arrival at Land's End…beautiful scenery, but challenging terrain (not to mention the British climate)!

Will we make it?  This is a real challenge for all of us taking part, it is not a distance that any of us are comfortable with (most of us have never run a marathon, let alone three), but then life is not always easy.  We would like as many of you as possible to support this challenge by way of sponsorship, in memory of our dear friend and work colleague Lisa, wife and mother of two beautiful little girls, who passed away at the end of June, aged 42.  A very brave and positive person, who faced a challenge far greater than ours, with nothing but a smile on her face and endless courage.

Therefore, with your help, we hope to make a valuable contribution, in Lisa's memory, to the RUH Forever Friends Appeal with specific focus on buying equipment for the Breast Unit and Cancer Screening.  Every donation, however big or small, will be going to a very worthy cause and will be greatly appreciated.

Lisa’s words ‘That sounds like compete madness, but I am sure if anyone can do it you will’.

Thank-you for taking the time to read this and we hope you will be inspired...

Max, Steve, Sue, Rich and Ioan.
