Improving quality of life through education. We work at a grassroots level with communities in Uganda across three core areas: alternative education, livelihoods and school infrastructure. We work to empower communities to be eco-friendly, self-sufficient and responsible for their futures.

Story

Hello! As many of you may know i'm going to Uganda this summer with other Leeds University students on a volunteering project. We're volunteering with Soft Power Education, helping building classrooms in existing schools in areas that need them the most.

Since 2004, Leeds RAG have sent groups of Leeds students to Uganda to volunteer with Soft Power Education who work with communities to improve quality of life though education. Soft Power have a deal with the Ugandan Government that for every new classroom built by Soft Powers' volunteers, they will employ a teacher and maintain the classroom.

Here's what your money can do:

£5 can pay for 4 liters of paint

£10 can pay for 60 bricks

£20 can pay for a truck of plaster sand

£35 can fund a teachers' wage for a month

I need to raise at least £500 for Soft Power, which goes straight towards building materials, and wages for local labourers to help the volunteers.

Any donations, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated, as it's an excellent cause and you will be making a huge difference to a lot of children's lives!

Thanks,  Aysha xx
