CLEFT aims to research the unanswered problems in improving care for children born with cleft lip and palate. We aim to push the boundaries of conventional treatment by funding research into improving operating techniques and by looking at the underlying reasons for cleft deformities.

Story

In October, a team of B2net employees will take part in this year's Royal Parks Half Marathon and will be raising money for CLEFT, a charity dedicated to funding research into the causes and treatment of cleft lip and palate related conditions and improvements to the care and support of patients.

Clefts of the lip and palate occur in about 1 in 700 babies in the UK, and the figure is higher in Asia.  CLEFT's aim is to understand more about the condition and to reduce the number of operations and the burden of care for children and families.  Your donations will:

  • fund a two-year study of the growth of the upper jaw in patients who have had cleft palate repair = £150,000
  • fund a study which may show how we can reduce hearing problems in children with cleft palates = £15,000
  • pay for a month’s cleaning in a Bangladesh hospital = £40

We are a team of different abilities - some very experienced, some for whom running is a new and very challenging pastime!  If you could show your support for our efforts and make a donation - large or small - that would be great.

    Thank you.
