Story
Hi! I am Ben McConnell and I will be doing the London to Paris bike ride this summer in support of the Breast Cancer Campaign, a charity committed to stopping this disease from taking lives by 2050. This is an issue I feel is important to tackle, as I have a number of friends whose families have been affected by breast cancer. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Cancer is the single greatest medical cause of premature death in the UK and breast cancer is its most common form.
We have come a long way in the fight against breast cancer - more people survive it than ever before, with the survival rate increasing from 50% to 80% in the past 40 years. The ultimate reason for this success comes down to quality scientific research.
However, with there still being 50,000 new cases and 12,000 deaths in the UK each year, the fight is by no means over. More research is needed for this progress to continue and this is why I have chosen to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign.
