Story
Hi this is my story and why I am asking for any donations no matter how small.
I gave birth to twin boys 7 weeks early - Dylan and Jake. When they were 2 days old I was told Jake was ill and required emergency surgery and I was told he was a TOF. This means his foodpipe ended in a pouch and the lower half was connected to his windpipe.
It was heartbreaking to read the information about TOFs and for us to realise Jake was different. Mealtimes were and still are a battle as he can take over an hour to eat his food. He cannot cope with large lumps and bread is an absolute no as it sticks and he chokes. It is indescribable how it feels to see your child choking and struggling with the simple act of swallowing. Parents who can give their child their lunch and then leave them to eat it are lucky, Jake must be supervised throughout all mealtimes incase he chokes.
The other battle is trying to convince people you are not an overprotective parent and he is different including doctors, health visitors and nursery. Even our own family are wary of feeding him.
He is special and adorable as are all the TOF children out there.
Any donations will help a charity that is vital for parents of TOF children
