Story
Do you remember your first birthday party? I don't know if I can say I remember my first, but I sure do have wonderful memories of Mum's fantastic 'butterfly buns', rice krispie cakes, those mini cocktail sausages, of course a yummy birthday cake (yes, generally food was very important!); party games (HOPING that the music would stop on you during pass the parcel!); lots of presents; those little gift bags given to the guests.... Maybe some of you parents are busy arranging similar things for your own children!
This May, 2010, we are planning a very big special birthday celebration in Uganda. Amazingly - and very sadly - many of our wonderful, talented, funny, special girls living in slums in Kampala and Mbale do not even know WHEN they were born - let alone have they ever had a party thrown in their honour. A gift is something incredibly rarely, if ever, received.
We are therefore going to have a big Birthday Bash in May when we can celebrate ALL the children's birthdays in one go - they of all children really deserve a party, as all have had to struggle through incredibly hard times in their lives already. Just like any party, we will have some lovely food (meat, matooke, rice!); drinks (lovely sodas); a great big cake; and lots of games and fun. We hopefully can give each girl a small gift too, depending on the money raised to run these party days.
Please help us to celebrate the lives of these precious children by donating any amount - you will truly be helping to put smiles on young faces! Thank you so much.
€3 or £2.88 approx can make sure 3 girls enjoys a special meal that day
€7.50 or £6.77 can buy 30 girls a soda
€10 or £9 can buy some decorations
€20 or £18 can buy a big cake!
