At Birmingham Children's Hospital Eye Dept, we are raising money to buy vital equipment (see photos) to improve the care we give to our patients. 

1.  OCT scanner - a retinal scanner which can allow early detection and treatment of retinal problems, therefore preventing blindness.

2.  Slit-lamp - an everyday piece of equipment, we already have three but one is on it's last legs! We need a replacement so that we can see a larger number of patients, and continue to provide safe, quality care to our children.

3.  Waiting room and environment improvements - our waiting room is dull! The third thing on our wish list is to jazz it up and make it a fun place to be!

Next big event: Birmingham Half Marathon

Sunday 24th October, 9am.

Start+end point: Brindley Place, Birmingham

A team of over 30 people are competing in the gruelling 13 mile running race to raise money for the us.

These brave/foolish people include Eye Dept staff, friends, families of patients etc. We also have several local companies supporting us, including runners from Rapide Communications, CapGemini, Ramada Encore, and Unison Engineering Components.

Please sponsor our runners, or come and support them on the day - they'll probably need it :)

Last big event: 3 mile Walk - Cannon Hill Park

Sunday 22 August. 

"Was fantastic! We had great fun, lots of patients, families and dogs joined us - it was a lovely day. We have raised over £1,500 from this event, and the money is still coming in.Thank you all for your support. We enjoyed it so much, we hope to make it an annual event, and hope you will join us next year."
