My story

Thanks for visiting the Mid Life Cyclists Just Giving site.

About the Mid Life Cyclists Challenge

We are a group of 4 professionals who wanted to do something big for a good cause, without running a marathon.

The Mid Life Cyclists challenge will take in over 890 miles cycling from Legal & General's head office in Kingswood, Surrey to Santander's head office in Northern Spain, over 10 days from 19 May 2010.

Cycling 100 miles is the equivalent of running a marathon  - so our little trip on wheels is the equivalent of about 8 marathons and that's if we don't get lost!

About us

-  Ben Thompson is Director, Mortgages at Legal & General and is the brainchild of the challenge.

-  Stephen White is Ben's childhood friend and co-conspirator who works for Christie's, the Auction Company in London

-  John Phillips is Financial Services Director at Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward - one of Legal & General's top business

   partners

-  Sharon Phillips works at a Doctors surgery in Kent and is John's wife

Who are we supporting?

We are putting ourselves through this challenge because between us we want to raise money for two very worthwhile charities, Shelter and Rethink.

Shelter helps more than 170,000 people a year fight for their rights, get back on their feet and keep a home. Shelter provides services to directly help the thousands of people who have housing problems or are homeless and their campaign work calls for more affordable housing provision and decent homes for all. Money raised will go towards advice services, free housing advice helpline, legal services (representation) and general lobbying and campaigning for their overall cause. Shelter is Legal & General Housing's preferred charity.
