Story

WHO?

An unlikely bunch of London lads who want to give something back and help out disadvantaged kids.

WHAT?

As passionate skiers we are taking on a 48hr skiing challenge. The minimum target is set at 150km vertical, but with the top team managing 210kms last year we are determined (weather permitting) to set a new record for 48hrs. That's skiing for 3 hours on Thursday evening; from first lift until last lift on Saturday with only 30 minutes lunch break; a 2-3 hour snow shoe hike at mid-station from 8-11; and then get up on Saturday and repeat the 8.30 until 5. No hot chocolate or gluhwein stops permitted and where possible no turning either!

WHY?

Snow-Camp is an innovative youth charity that uses a unique combination of skiing, snowboarding and life-skills programmes to support inner-city young people. Through snowsports and life-skills, Snow-Camp programmes enable young people to grow in confidence and self esteem, develop as individuals and make positive choices for their lives. Snow-Camp programmes also enable young people to reflect on the key issues impacting their day to day lives, and help them develop new skills to support their futures. Snow-Camp has grown steadily from 2003 and now works with at least 400 young people each year across 12 London Boroughs. Their vision is to expand Snow-Camp to other cities across the UK and benefit many more inner-city young people.
