My story

The Beyond the Next Horizon Fund

In response to those who have asked us how they can both make a donation towards our work in remembrance of the Revd Tom Heffer, Secretary General of The Mission to Seafarers from 2009-2012, and also give something in recognition of his pioneering work in the field of maritime welfare, we have established the Beyond the Next Horizon memorial fund.

This fund is named after Tom’s five-year plan (2010 – 2014) for the Mission, and all proceeds raised will assist us in taking forward his vision of a dynamic and responsive Mission which is there for all seafarers at the point of greatest need.

The Revd Tom Heffer was a man motivated by his faith to make a difference in the world. Despite his short time as Secretary General, he has left an invaluable legacy. For many crews, the chance to relax in a Flying Angel centre or a lift into town on an MtS minibus is the only contact they will have with the outside world during their long voyages at sea. With your continued support, we can ensure our chaplains continue to be on the dockside waiting for the ships to berth.

You can contribute to the fund via this page - just click on the 'donate' link.
