We fund care to help people through a terminal illness

Story

The GDC, usually famed for being first in the pub and last out, have been inspired by the Olympics and decided to get sporty in aid of raising money for The Martlets Hospice.

The first leg of the exerciseathon will take place on Friday 5th August 2011 and sees Brett and Andy join 15 other cyclists on a 73mile cycle ride between The Priestfield Stadium, Withdean and The AMEX.

The second leg takes place in September 2011 and will see Piers, Simon (and others TBC) take on a 13 mile walk from The County Ground Hove to Saltdean and back.

The events take place in memory of all the Brighton fans, especially friends and family, who sadly passed away in the 14 years Brighton played football without a permanent home, sadly not getting to see us play at the wonderful American Express Community Stadium.

Sadly a few Brighton fans we know spent their last days at the hospice, so it a cause close to our hearts. The hospice needs support more than ever, as they are facing tough times. They are not part of the NHS and it costs over £4 million a year to run the Hospice. Only £1 million of this comes from government funding.

All their amazing services are provided free of charge, so they are heavily reliant on support from the local community. So we thought we'd try and help out

As ever we are asking for the kindness and generosity of our friends and family to raise some money for a brilliant cause.
