Grove Cottage - Schools' Challenge and Fun Runs · 27 September 2009 ·

Grove Cottage provides social and educational activities for people of all ages with learning disabilities and complex additional needs; to help them develop their potential, avoid social isolation by supporting lifelong friendships, and to provide respite for their families.

Story

Bishop's Stortford Running Club is holding its annual "Schools' Challenge and Charity Fun Runs" on Sunday 27th September and is again supporting two great local children's charities: Grove Cottage and CAZFEST.

Grove Cottage has been doing a fantastic job for 40 years.  It supports people with learning disability and their families.  It aims to help people with learning disability to maximise their development, to help them maintain lifelong friendship groups to avoid the loneliness and isolation that is the greatest problem as they grow older and to provide respite for their families.

CAZFEST is a new charity (within Cardiac Risk in Youth) in memory of Caz a seventeen year old who died last year because of an undiagnosed heart problem   This is a problem which affects about 12 young people every week.   The charity aims to provide heart screening (the CAZTEST) for all local young people.
