Why
The Six Peaks Challenge is a sponsored mountain walk held annually to raise money for the international charity WaterAid. It is one of the toughest mountain challenges in Great Britain and Ireland, and presents participant teams with the greatest logistical problems.
To successfully complete the Challenge, walkers have to visit the summits of the highest peaks of the 6 regions of the British Isles. Peaks are walked from sea level to the summit and back. Travel between peaks is by surface transport.
But this is just a drop in the ocean to what some people less fortunate go through.
Every minute, every day, people suffer and lives are lost needlessly because of a lack of safe water and sanitation. Help us end this global crisis and transform lives. WaterAid transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities.
Between 2009 and 2015 WaterAid's ambition is that a further 25 million people will have access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation as a direct result of our work; and that by influencing the policies and practices of governments and service providers we will have reached a further 100 million people.
