In May, and again in September, I will be riding as part of a group of cyclists raising money for Help For Heroes. The charity is of great importance to me - if you want to see what they do, go to www.helpforheroes.org.uk where the website explains everything.

I became involved in fundraising just a few months after the charity was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry. Then, we all hoped to raise enough money to sort out Headley Court, so that the wounded at the time could get the sort of help they really needed. Two things have happened since - H4H has exceeded our wildest dreams, but, sadly, the number of seriously wounded has also expanded. In broad terms. We now have had an entire Battalion strength killed or wounded in Afghanistan, to add to the casualties from Iraq, Sierra Leone, Northern Ireland etc etc.

H4H continues to work towards the future of those youngsters who have done what no politician seems prepared to do..endure great suffering for little reward.

Many generous folk have already sponsored me in the past, and I hope they continue to do so, in this, my third, and fourth Big Bike Ride. For those new to the story, each ride is over 350 miles,  and each needs 650 miles of training rides in the months preceeding - as well as constant fundraising. 700+ miles in 9 days on the rides, 2000 in the 9 months of training..That is my commitment. Can I ask you to commit the equivilant of a tank of fuel or a meal out to my total? It means a great deal to all the seriously wounded to know that they are supported by the Great British Public.
