3 Peaks Challenge · 15 June 2015

The nation’s leading first aid charity. Every year, more than 400,000 people learn how to save a life through our training programmes. Our volunteers provide first aid in their communities and thanks to them fewer lives will be lost needlessly. Raise money. Help save lives. Be the difference.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a bunch of naive chancers from the Media Services business unit of Babcock International who think it will be a good idea to try to scale the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in less than 24 hours, hopefully raising some much needed funds for St John Ambulance along the way. Our heroic team of adventurers are:

-Alan Hutchinson

-Andy Clark

-Dave Yeaman

-Liz Gray

-Megan Thomas

-Paul Firth

We will be ably assisted by two equally heroic drivers:

-Darren Smalley

-Dave Snell

The 3 Peaks Challenge involves scaling the highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) in less than 24 hours. The difficulty of completing the three climbs within the time limit is compounded by the distance and driving required between them.

There is typically 12-13 hours of walking and 10-11 hours of driving involved to complete the challenge so it should not be underestimated how difficult and tiring this can be, especially if there is inclement weather.

The total distance covered on foot will be approximately 25 miles with a total ascent of about 3100 metres (10100 ft.) so please give us your support by donating through this page.

Everyone has been training hard and we have already had a practice weekend where we conducted recce attempts on Scafell Pike (success) and Snowdon (failed - due to horrendous weather conditions - hard rain & 80 mph winds!) so everyone is fully committed to seeing it through.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
