16th August 2011
Today we had a tea and cake afternoon to raise money for S.P.R.I.N.G. It has been 2 years since Teddy Simmons died and we wanted to gather friends together in memory of him. Having Tabitha, now 8 months old, is wonderful and it was a joy to see all of her baby friends together.
Thanks for your donations.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please donate what you can – SPRING have been so helpful to us and others in our situation. For us it meant that our baby boy could be delivered in a private suite which, although part of the antenatal unit, felt less like a hospital as it had its own lounge, bedroom and bathroom. They also offer counselling and support throughout by employing a dedicated bereavement counsellor. It is such a needed and deserved charity – helping people through an impossible time. We were unaware that such a service existed and will be forever grateful of it.
Our baby had a complex mix of foetal abnormalities which meant that he would spend a short life in an incubator – if he ever made it that far. So, with much sadness, we prevented this pain so that he could rest in peace.
The story of our baby boy can be found on the geeps website exomphalos discussion forum – within the ‘closure using a silo’ thread.
We didn’t name our baby as prior to his birth no name fitted – to me a sign that he was to forever stay a baby. He was beautiful – about the length of a size 7 shoe and only weighing 320g. He was called ‘Baby Simmons’ – a name that puts a smile on our faces.
I would like something positive to come from such a difficult situation. Please give what you can – if everyone gave £1 it would help. I have hopefully removed the ability to leave names and amounts so that donations can be made anonymously. I think they also do a monthly scheme so that a few pounds can be donated each month.
Family and friends have been wonderful – we’re lucky people.
Many thanks in advance and for your support.
Melanie and Jon
