This year our collection will be in aid of the Ulster Defence Regiment & Royal Irish Regiment Benevolent Funds.

The Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR) Benevolent Fund or "Ben Fund "was established as a charitable trust in 1972 with the aim of pro...viding grants paid out immediately to bereaved families and to help serving and ex-soldiers and their families in need, primarily but not solely as a result of their UDR service.

The Royal Irish Benevolent Fund was also established as a charitable trust in 1992 on the formation of the Regiment and is similar to that of the UDR Benevolent Fund. The aim is to render aid, financial or otherwise, to members, their widows and/or dependants who are in need or in financial difficulties.

The support provided by the Fund is administered by the Aftercare Service Field Teams, who, as a Public Body, do not have any funds from which to provide benevolence.

Our aim is to show our thanks and appreciation to those who have served our country and defended our communities from the enemies of Ulster, many of whom have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
