Why am I asking you to help.  Well,in 2008 I was, after surgery, diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.  It is known as “the silent killer”.  Following 6 cycles of chemotherapy, I managed to indulge myself still further with a renal thrombosis and a broken ankle!  Happily, since then, the quarterly tests at the Oncology Clinic have all been good news and I have now been switched to 6 monthly check-ups.   As part of my life returning to normal, I would like to do something for Ovacome, a charity which provides an ovarian cancer support network, and to raise awareness of the disease.             It was through riding the bike that I realised that I had a problem  and so I am climbing back on the bike to cycle from Calais to Stes Maries-de-la-Mer on the Mediterranean, 1,330 km (830 miles); some flat bits, some described as undulating, and some decidedly mountainous – the Massif Central. Ian and I shall be travelling light, two pannier bags each, and no support vehicle.  I would like to ask you to join me in raising much needed funds for Ovacome.  Your sponsorship would be greatly appreciated.  I am not setting any fund raising targets or asking for particular amounts, whatever gesture you feel able to make.
