The Roake Family completed their Roakeathon, the 54-hole target, despite some very heavy rain during the second round.
Teeing off at 8.00am the last putt of the 54 holes, a tricky three footer, was holed by Brian at 6.00pm
It was great fun for all four us and the usual family banter was evident all day. There was some good play from all, however, both Sarah and Barbara played exceptionally well.
We would like to thank all those people who came down to Gerrards Cross Golf club to support us, especially the caddies, Amy Roake, Joan Marshall, Rick Cartwright and Phil Dawson. The response to this charity has been overwhelming. Our sincere thanks to all those who made donations to such a worthwhile cause. This is why Bowel Cancer UK’s work – to encourage people to recognise the symptoms of the disease and to act on their concerns so that they have the best chance of survival – is so important.
Also a big thanks to the club for allowing us to use the course, especially to Matthew Barr, our professional for his tremendous support of our day.
