Nigel Gemmell, an optometrist from Hythe, Southampton, Paul Donaldson, Donna Shaw and Nick Cooper will be setting off from Hythe to cycle to Bilbao (originally this would have been Barcelona but with the Queen's DIamond Jubilee, the logistics have proved impossible), in northern Spain leaving May 31st 2012. They will cross the channel from Portsmouth to St Malo in northern France. With 7 days of almost 100 miles a day ahead of them, the riders aim to reach Bilbao on 8th June. A rest day to is planned after stage three. (They are all nearly 50 and only fun cyclists).
If anyone would wish to join the ride they would be more than welcome. Speeds are expected to average 16-17mph, with 7 hours a day in the saddle.
