Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Occasionally in life something happens that makes you think you must get out of your comfort zone and do something that makes a difference. On hearing the sad news of Thommy Purbrook a full of life 18 year old girl who tragically died after contracting  meningitis on a school trip to St.Petersburg and seeing the devastating effect this had on her family, I knew I had to do something.

For those of you that know me well, age and lifelong support of the god Bacchus will not allow me to do a marathon, so I have decided to take advantage of the insulating factors of the good life and attempt a 250km trek across the Artic lasting six to seven days hopefully assisted by 8 very healthy Huskys.  Elaine (the person who hates the cold!) has volunteered to join me on this adventure. Neither of us are under any illusions as to the challenges that we will be facing together in what will be fairly extreme conditions.

It is extremely unlikely that we will ever ask for sponsorship again so please give whatever you can in order to assist the fight against this terrible disease.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Elaine and Stuart

P.S I know that you are all kind and charitable people but if you are in any doubt, please bear in mind that not only shall I be facing ridiculously low temperatures, difficult altitudes, extreme discomfort and flying dog poo I shall also have to share a 2 man/woman tent with Stuart without any available washing/toilet facilities that, for the dinner party stories alone, should persuade you to donate generously. For what I am about to endure, please make it truly worthwhile! Many thanks. Elaine x
