Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. So May 14th should have been my due date but Harvey had different plans and arrived 12 weeks early on February 19th, at a weight of 1kg.
With the help of the doctors and nurses in St Michaels' NICU, Harvey was given the best of care to help develop his lungs and breathing to be able to come home before Easter. The doctors and nurses were very open with discussing Harvey's progress and I have learnt all sorts of information about premature babies as a result!
In addition, I was given a room in Cots for Tots House, located opposite, so I could be close to Harvey. The House is entirely charity funded, and provides a room, kitchen, lounge and washing area for parents, a 'home away from home' approach. It is run by a lovely lady Anne, who was always asking after Harvey and checking I was ok as well. Whilst at the house and hospital, I met other NICU parents - soon becoming friends and support for each other - no one expects to be in Intensive Care with their baby. This journey has been a roller coaster but has left me a stronger person and with a strong need to give something back.
To raise money for Cots for Tots, we will doing a Bristol walk and collecting money along the way. This was originally booked for June, but we've had to reschedule for July, and change the trail slightly. Any sponsorship would be appreciated and goes towards running Cots for Tots and equipment for NICU.
