Please support me in helping to raise funds for kids in Africa.

My aim is to raise £2000 this year, but I need your help! Please recommend this site to as many of your friends as possible, the wider the audience, the more that can be achieved today to lift kiddies out of extreme poverty and the despair and hopelessness that brings.

What am I going to do? I’m going to run. This year on the 29th September, I celebrate my 40 year on planet earth and its time to get fit! (OK so it’s a mid life crisis but I don’t have the cash for a fast car or motorbike). I’m running two races, the Bristol 10km in May followed by the Bristol Half Marathon in September. Sounds like a plan Huh!

But it’s more than that, it’s a challenge. I’m setting targets and there are penalties to pay if I don’t achieve them. Both races will receive an official timing by the run organisers, I can’t cheat, short of swapping my vest number for that on Paula Radcliff’s shirt when she’s not looking. Each minute that I go over my target, I will donate £10 to the Soteria Trust. Time really is going to be money!!

Targets:

·         Bristol 10km (15th May 2011)  =  46 minutes

·         Bristol Half Marathon (11th September 2011)  =  1hr 46 minutes

The work that Soteria Trust is doing in Nigeria is giving hope by providing education to some of the poorest families on the planet. By providing child and young adult sponsorship, Soteria is able to educate and where required feed and provide medical care for young children at Prospect Primary School in Ibadan. The trust also runs the Soteria Business School which provides a real route to tangible qualifications for those children leaving Prosect and other vulnerable young adults. By providing children with an option for future development and a route to a career, Soteria Trust is providing a route for whole families to escape extreme poverty. As educated adults, these children go on to take real roles in their communities and become the policy makers of the future.

Please also consider sponsoring a child yourself, this is a rewarding way of making your time on earth mean more. Exchanging letters with your sponsored child is a rewarding way of making a difference today ;-)
