I'm a 40 year old bloke who is trying to raise over £10000 for Martin House Children's Hospice at Boston Spa, Near Wetherby. So far I have run both the Manchester and Edinburgh Marathons (52.4 miles ran only 4 weeks apart), fallen out of a perfectly good airplane from 15,000 feet and completed the Great North Run (13.1 miles).
In October I'll be running the York Marathon (26.2 miles) and have started going to a Mixed Martial Arts Gym to prepare for a gym session with UFC fighter, John Hathaway.
In addition, I had setup a very successful charity auction via the "Auction of Promises" website at http://auctionofpromises.com/i.aspx?a=yyddcyx and had some fantastic support from some great folks (and huge support from fighters and companies involved with the contact sports).
Following his win over John Maguire, I will shortly be training with the British Welterweight UFC fighter John Hathaway http://www.kimura.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/john-hathaway.jpg / http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hathaway , thanks to John for helping me with this fundraising challenge (albeit, I am a little apprehensive, yet excited to get the opportunity to train with one of Britain's best UFC fighters).....
***WHY AM I DOING THIS?***
Martin House provides care and support, free of charge, to families in which there is a child or children with a short life expectancy. Its aim is to provide a home from home with a lively friendly atmosphere where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life. Please take a few minutes to look over their website for more information about their cause www.martinhouse.org.uk
As some of you will know, in April 2011, I ran my first ever Marathon in an attempt to raise £5000 for Martin House. With everyone's kind donations, you all managed to help me get through it and we raised a total of £5092.18.... Thank you again to everyone who had helped me reach my goal for such great charity.
Please help motivate me by sparing a few bob towards a local charity that provide so much support and help to the poor unfortunate children who are suffering with a terminal illness, and their families who have to cope through these extremely difficult times.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
You can also donate via JustGiving Text, by texting either BAZR73 £5 or BAZR73 £10 to 70070 from your mobile phone.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you
