Last year I cycled 100km in aid of Pancreatic Cancer in memory of my beloved mother who lost her battle with this deadly disease.  You helped me raised a whopping £1432.  Thank you.

This year, as I celebrate my 35th birthday, I'll be riding a 4 day, 500km cycling trek from York to London, culminating in the Prudential Ride London 100.

500km, that's basically the distance between central London & Edinburgh.  The first three days of cycling will replicate 3 legs of last year's Tour de France, starting off in York and going through Sheffield, Cambridge and then down to London before doing the brutal 100 mile Ride London.

Why on earth?! Well, some people enjoy a mid-life crisis with a new sports car or a new job; I wanted to raise some serious money for an amazing charity.

Some of you will know that for over 10 years I was Chair of Governors at Ealing's Mandeville School, providing a wonderful service for the borough's children with the greatest needs.  Those children and their parents face a daily struggle and I got to know during that time the invaluable service that The Log Cabin provides to support those families. Families with children with profound and multiple learning difficulties, autism or physical impairment.  Parents of children with special needs are provided with vital support by the brilliant team at Log Cabin and for many it's an absolute life-line.

Every parent I met whilst at Mandeville could not speak highly enough about the role of Log Cabin in their lives and so please, please, please do something amazing and donate to help this charity supporting children with the most severe special needs make an awesome and vital difference to their lives.
