At times of overseas emergency, the DEC brings together a unique alliance of the UK's aid, corporate, public and broadcasting sectors to rally the nation's compassion, and ensure that funds raised go to DEC agencies best placed to deliver effective and timely relief to people most in need.

Story

To all you AHRCers, our friends, family and loved ones,

It's time for Half Marathon Part II - This Time It's Personal!

We're running the Bath Half Marathon on the 7th March and we've decided we need to raise money to help with the instantaneous and catastrophic destruction in Haiti following the earthquake of the 12th Jan and the subsequent deadly after shocks in the following days and weeks.

We're sure most of you have wanted to donate in some way or another and that a lot of you already have, we've chosen to give money to the DEC. The Disasters Emergency Committee is an umbrella group comprising thirteen UK charities. These charities are all associated with disaster related issues such as providing clean water, humanitarian aid and medical care. They're currently working hard to raise funds for Haiti and to co-ordinate the invaluable efforts of the 13 charities as to ensure as many people get as much help as possible.

So, please, give as much as you can and we promise we'll run all the harder for it.

Thank you so much,

John, Oli & Dan.
