Battle 2 Brive Cycle Challenge · 20 April 2013 ·

Mencap wants a world where people with a learning disability gain an equal right to choice opportunity and respect. We believe that support for the families and carers of people with a learning disability is vital to achieving our vision

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Mencap Cymru JustGiving page.

In 1997 rugby teams Brive and Pontypridd were involved in a heated encounter during a Cup match, which became known as the infamous Battle of Brive.  Mencap Cymru is reconnecting the two towns by organising a gruelling charity cycle ride from Pontypridd to Brive.

The money raised in the challenge will help us campaign against learning disability hate crime. Many people become victims of attacks, thefts and bullying all because they have a learning disability. We can provide support to individuals who have experienced abuse, and help them report it to the police.

The challenge open to all levels of fitness and to those wanting to get fit!

It all kicks off on Saturday 20th April 2013 at 9am from Pontypridd Rugby Club, Sardis Road.

The cyclists will arrive on Saturday 27th April in time for the last home game of the season at Brive. Supporters from both sides are welcome to come along and cheer at the finish line.  Everyone is then invited to a traditional Correzien barbecue and dance in the evening.

To take part in this challenge or to show your support please contact Fundraising Wales on fundraisingwales@mencap.org.uk or call 02920 768 228.

Ym 1997 cyfarfu timoedd rygbi Brive a Pontypridd mewn gêm danllyd a ddaethpwyd i’w hadnabod fel Brwydr Brive.  Mae Mencap Cymru yn ail-gysylltu y ddwy dref trwy drefnu reid beic rhwng Pontypridd a Brive.

Bydd yr arian sydd yn cael ei godi yn ein helpu i ymgyrchu yn erbyn troseddau casineb.  Mae nifer o bobl wedi profi ymosodiadau, lladrata a bwlio dim ond oherywdd fod ganddynt anabledd dysgu.  Gallwn gefnogi unigolion sydd wedi cael eu camdrin, a'u cynnorthwyo i ddweud wrth yr heddlu.

Mae’r her ar agor i bobl o bob lefel ffitrwydd ac i rai sydd eisiau dod yn ffit!

Bydd y daith yn dechrau am 9yb ar ddydd Sadwrn yr 20fed o Ebrill 2013 o Glwb Rygbi Pontypridd, Heol Sardis.

Bydd y beicwyr yn cyrraedd ar ddydd Sadwrn y 27ain Erbill mewn pryd ar gyfer gêm gartref olaf Brive o’r tymor.  Croesawir cefnogwyr o'r ddwy ochr i ddod i gyfarch y beicwyr wrth ochr y linell derfyn.  Gwahoddir pawb i farbeciw Correzien traddodiadol a dawns y noson honno.
