We represent a group called BASOSA- Bay Area SOS Africa (http://www.sosafrica.com/news.htm?id=107). We’re a group of high school students who share one simple, straightforward goal: We want to make a difference in our world. We’re so incredibly blessed to have the lifestyles that we have- food to eat, water to consume, homes to sleep in, families to love, school to attend, and luxuries and extremities that we don’t even need. Not everyone has all this. Not everyone can dream about growing up and enjoying the beauties of life. Some people fight to survive another month, another week, another day. As fellow human beings on this planet, we have the moral duty to aid our fellow man in whatever way we can.

BASOSA functions by providing monetary support to SOS Africa (http://www.sosafrica.com/), a UK registered, non-profit charity which funds both education and care to numerous children in various African townships. It is SOS Africa’s belief that through education, the future generation of Africans will have the opportunities to break through the cycle of poverty prevalent in their homes in order to live out the lives that every human being should have the right to live. 100% of all funds donated or raised go to aiding the children, with a vast majority of the money going towards aftercare support, tuition, and transportation (http://www.sosafrica.com/sos-africa-expenditure-information.htm). There’s no tricks, gimmicks, or ploys; everything goes to the kids, no questions asked.

Currently, the funds that we raise go towards helping two specific children under SOS Africa, Dimpho and Siabulelwa.

These two wonderful children give us real faces to incorporate with the work we do. All our hard work is worth it because we know that we are directly helping these two children, kids who may not know we even exist. We do all this in our free time because in the end, if we’re able to make the lives of two innocent and bright children just a little better, it’s all worth it.

As hard as we work to achieve our goals, BASOSA needs help. We can’t do this all alone, and that’s where you can come and give an invaluable hand in helping us help these wonderful children. Money is tight, but any amount of donation is incredibly appreciated, and we thank you in advance for anything you’re able to give.
