Who we are

Coram has been working with vulnerable children since 1739 when Thomas Coram established what was formerly known as The Foundling Hospital.

• Help children find love in a new family

• Support parents so they are better able to care for their children

• Help young people in the care system to develop skills & live independent lives

We have recently brought Coram Life Education on board reaching up to 4,000 primary schools & 1 million children per year

What we do

• Adoption - helping children find loving adoptive families. Our adoption service has the lowest disruption rate in the country (3% against a national average of 20%)

• Parenting services – provides the space for parents to gain advice, access to parenting programmes, meet other parents, one-to-one support, courses & drop-ins

• Housing and support - enabling care leavers & young people at risk to develop the skills to reach their full potential by providing supported housing

• Family support programmes help address the loss of supportive networks for families by working with schools, children’s centres and community groups giving parents the space to develop their relationships & support children’s development

• Education – provides children, young people & families the opportunity to develop their confidence, self esteem and skills through communication and learning

• Coram Life Education helps children make healthy choices contributing to existing Personal

My story

Hello,

If I've sent you this link, then I'm under the impression that you possess the heart and generosity to donate a few quid to a less fashionable charity that deals with human issues.

I've occasionally donated to Coram before and they have kindly agreed to give me a London Marathon (25 Apr 2010) place on the basis of my boast that I could raise £5,000 for them! Please spare 5 mins to check their website, and appreciate what you might be contributing towards:

If I can get 385 people to sponsor me at 50p per mile, then I'm there.

I'm asking you to think of something that you're about to waste £13 pounds on, and deny yourself once. Hopefully your donation will allow someone who might make better use of it than you, to make it work for them.

...of course you can always sponsor me nothing and enjoy the thought of me paying out the balance in order to save a bit of face.
