Our lovely son, Lucas, was born in June 2008 and has Down's syndrome.
Down's syndrome is a life-long condition that causes delays in learning and development that cannot be cured. Like any other child, our babies vary in their abilities and achievements. The problems can be eased with the right help and a positive and accepting attitude to Down's syndrome.
To help Lucas with his development, we take him to Downright Excellent on a weekly basis. Downright Excellent provides educational sessions and quality play experiences for children with Down’s syndrome and their siblings, plus education and support for parents/ carers. We currently run weekly speech and language classes, and life skills and sensory processing sessions for children age 0-4 (Early Intervention), and 5-9 (Supplementary Education).
Lucas’ has an amazing circle of family and friends who have benefited hugely from downright excellent. We are so proud of being a part of such a fantastic group and want to help in any way we can. We’re doing a sponsored walk on the 26 June at Hampstead heath to help raise money for Downright Excellent. Lucas will hopefully being doing his bit by walking a small amount of the way too……..
