Story

Armed bandits, bleeding head wounds and dysentery weren't enough to put this adventurist off. In fact, the Mototaxi Junket 2010 only whetted the appetite for motorised stupidity: hence, the Mongol Rally 2011.

This time, Becky Ahmed and Jerome Burny will be driving from London to Ulaanbaatar - 1/3 of the world's surface - in a car that your granny would probably be ashamed to go to Morrison's in.

What could possibly go wrong? Everything, probably. The whole point is to do the rally in a car entirely unsuitable for the task. And lo, the BEAST was reborn, as a 998cc silver Nissan Micra (it has steel wheels, so that's a bonus at least!) bought from a garage somewhere in Essex.

However, this isn't just to see how far we can get before the wheels fall off or the engine explodes. The idea is to raise as much money as possible for the Christina Noble Children's Foundation - a Mongolian charity that helps abandoned or homeless children and gives them a new chance in life with a safe place to live, education, and all the support of a family.

The car will be left and auctioned off in Mongolia after the rally, but we also need to raise at least £1000 in sponsorship. We have paid for the rally ourselves, so ALL of the money you give will go towards the charity, not towards our stupidity…
