2010 Sheffield Half Marathon · 25 April 2010 ·

Kick4Life uses the power of sport to transform the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in Lesotho. Using sport to engage and inspire, we deliver health education, HIV testing, life skills development, mentoring and support towards education and employment. Thanks for helping us to change lives!

Story

We are fundraising for Kick 4 Life which is a HIV/AIDS charity based in Lesotho, Southern Africa (for more info click on the link on the left hand side of this page).  Lesotho has the third highest prevalence of HIV in the world which has devastated communities and left many children orphaned.  We will be travelling to Lesotho in September 2010 to visit the communities who have benefitted from Kick4Life's work and also to get involved with the football tournaments and HIV education sessions (Danni and Rich are not going to Lesotho this time but are being very kind and running the Sheffield half marathon to fundraise for this charity as well).

We are hoping to raise £3000 which can be donated towards new or existing programmes (this is where you guys come in :P)

Important:  We will be 'donating' the cost of the trip ourselves so all of your donations will go directly into the projects.  (so don't worry, you're not paying for us to go on holiday).

For those of you who need a bit more of a reason to part with your hard earned cash then we have decided to attempt the Sheffield half marathon in April.  So when you are deciding whether or not to donate please think of us wheezing and puffing our way around Sheffield in the snow, rain and anything else the met office has to throw at us.

(Becky:  For those of you who have known me for a while please recall the days when I would come painfully LAST in the school 800m races and subsequent 2 minute treadmill efforts and recognise that this bright idea is verging on the impossible)

In a nutshell, it's a great charity and we are both running 13.1 miles...hopefully one of these factors will be a good enough reason for you to sponsor us...we would be grateful for anything whether it is some shrapnel you find down the sofa, your euromillions winnings and anything inbetween.

Thank youuuuuuuuu :)

(p.s. Everyone who makes a donation will be entered into a raffle to be drawn on the day of the half marathon :) Prizes have kindly been donated by local business).
