Story
Around the world 100 million children live on the streets. In South Africa alone it is thought there are 250,000 young people supporting themselves without anywhere to call home. This means that they have insufficient food and suffer chronic hunger (please see www.1billionhungry.org/beckyj for more information).
Becky, Carly and Hannah are going to undertake the challenge of surving on the diet of a slum child for 2 weeks - just half a cup of rice and lentils twice a day, and only water to drink. This amounts to approximately 200 calories a day.
We are aiming to raise the awareness of the suffering that children living on the streets or in slums have to go through, as well as raising money for the TLC orphanage in South Africa that takes in AIDS orphans and abandoned babies that mostly would otherwise have to fend for themselves.
Please donate as generously as you can, all the money helps so much and will spur us on and away from the temptation of cake!
The diet begins on 6th September, when Becky returns to the UK after spending 2 months at the orphanage.
