In the last couple of years I have lost two wonderful uncles – Alex and Martin - to different types of blood cancer. I am doing this ride in their memory and hope that my fundraising for Bloodwise will contribute to a future cure for this disease.

Thanks to research and trial treatments, Uncle Alex lived eighteen very active years after his diagnosis, showing that progress IS being made to beat blood cancers - anything you donate will help this progress.

The Ride (this is going to hurt!):

Every year in June, The Fireflies cycle over the French Alps from Lake Geneva to the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. The challenge is to ride more than 1000kms over 18 mountains in 7 days.

The Fireflies are committed to raising money for Bloodwise, a leading charity which funds research into the treatment of leukaemia and cancers of the blood. Inspired by the courage it takes to fight cancer, the riders tackle the gruelling climbs of the Tour de France. Our motto is ‘For Those Who Suffer We Ride’.

Over the last 15 years the ride has grown to hundreds of riders who have made the challenging journey from Geneva to Cannes across the high Alps — raising a total of more than £1.7m for leukaemia research and treatment. You can find out more here: www.thefirefliestour.com
