Nepal is a land of mountains: both awe inspiring peaks and the barriers that stand in the way of children’s schooling and women’s aspirations. Classrooms in the Clouds supports education in the Solukhumbu by building safe classrooms, training female teachers, and tackling gender inequality.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As I am sure you all know by now... my passion in life is to help children feel safe, secure and ultimately to be happy. Classrooms in the clouds is an amazing UK charity! Their wish is to assist local Nepalese people to have the materials and funds in order to help educate young children who live in some of the most remote places in our world. The money you donate will go to help develop and maintain buildings, pay the wages of teachers and provide children with scholorships. So, I ask all my friends and family to think how lucky we all are - we have had an amazing education, have lives that generally are not too demanding and we are only a stones throw from all that we could wish for. When I wake up each morning, I want to feel that I have helped to make a difference to the lives of children - the excerpt below really sums it all up. Please help to make a difference and help a child to smile and shine brightly.

One Hundred Years from now
(excerpt from "Within My Power" by Forest Witcraft)

One Hundred Years from now
It will not matter
what kind of car I drove,
What kind of house I lived in,
how much money was in my bank account
nor what my clothes looked like.
But the world may be a better place because
I was important in the life of a child.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. My journey starts here.... on the 23rd of January 2011 I fly out to Nepal. For the first part of my time in Nepal, I am trekking the Everest base camp trail - an amazing challenge physically and mentally in very cold winter conditions. After the trek I will be volunteering in the school in Lukla working with the children and supporting the teachers. I have always dreamed of going to Nepal and supporting schools in remote areas of the world- so it looks like my dreams are going to be coming true VERY soon!

Thank you for any donation that you can spare and your support on my epic journey:)

Lots of love Louise xx

Check out Classroom in the Clouds on http://www.classroomsintheclouds.org/
