Story

FOODBANK

My Challenge

At my youth group I was given a challenge to raise £50 in one week for a charity that God led me to, but it would be great to raise even more. My church is in the process of setting up a Foodbank in Fulham and this inspired me. Foodbank does amazing work for impoverished people throughout the UK and Bulgaria.

I have set myself a challenge to cycle to and from school every day (a distance of 10 miles per day). Along with my sister, I will ride to school until my target is met.

If you Give £2 (or more if you like!) it would be  appreciated.

FOODBANK

Working to combat hidden hunger across the UK.

·       12.4 million people in the UK live below the poverty line, including 3 million children.

·       Many struggle to put food on the table. Thousands simply go without.

The Trussell Trust's foodbank project, pioneered in Salisbury, is now working to feed people in crisis right across the UK.

What is a foodbank?

A foodbank gives three days of nutritionally balanced food and support to people experiencing emotional or financial crisis. Our foodbank network is mobilising communities across the UK to meet the needs of their neighbours by setting up a foodbank in their own town.

What's in a foodbox?

Foodboxes contain three days worth of non-perishable food. Our foodboxes meet Salisbury District Hospital's nutritional requirements and contain menu planners to help people to make healthy meals.

Typical content of a foodbox:

Tinned vegetables
Tinned meat
Tinned fish
Tinned fruit
Orange Juice
UHT milk
Sugar
Tea/Coffee
Cereal
Sauces e.g. Ragu
Pasta
Rice
Packet mash
Rice Pudding
