Story
After recently returning from Afghanistan and seeing at first hand the scale of the injuries suffered by our brave troops I wanted to do something to help them and their families, who are all too often forgotten. We, as the Counter Improvised Explosive Device Task Force, suffered 7 killed in action and 2 seriously wounded and the support and help that the families and those injured need is very evident.
On Sat 26 Jun I will be cycling from Land's End (the most southern Tip of Cornwall) to John O'Groats (the most northern tip of Scotland). I will cover approx 1,000 miles over 7 days, averaging 110-120 miles a day- a casual 8 hours in the seat!!!
All the money raised will go to the ABF, The Soldiers' Charity who give lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. Whereas a charity like Help for Heroes donate to large projects and quick fixes, The Soldiers Charity develops individual care packages for soldiers and their families and focuses a lot on mental health issues, which may not manifest themselves until long after someone has left the forces. They also do a great deal of work to help soldiers' families; I for one firmly believe that it is sometimes harder for the families left at home.
If you can donate something, no matter how much or little, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Ben
