Story
I and eleven other 12-13 year olds will be walking form one side of the Lake District to the other. Over three days we will ascend the two highest mountains in England and will walk about 32 miles. We will be carrying heavy rucksacks with all our provisions for three days including: tent, sleeping bag, cooking implements, the lot. We will be camping all three nights, one of which will be wild camping up amongst the mountains. It will be a real challenge but we have prepared well (completed a training walk in Peak District). The main objective of this un-aided walk will be raising as much money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
If you didn't already know Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is one of the top five paediatric research hospitals in the world, treating children from all over the UK and abroad with very complex and often life-threatening conditions. Throughout its long history GOSH has always relied on public support, even after the founding of NHS in 1948. The support for the charity is concentrated in four areas: redevelopment, research, medical equipment and accommodation and welfare. Our fundraising will thus help GOSH to rebuild and refurbish the hospital, buy vital equipment and fund pioneering research. This is a wonderful cause; with everyone's help we can make a real difference for the sick children of Gosh and their families.
