An Ironman - a rough 2.4 mile open water swim, a gruelling 112 mile bike stage topped off with a relaxing marathon to finish.  

There are many things I've wished to do at some point in my life.. please don't ask me why an Ironman is one of them! Finding myself with some time off before starting work and realising I won't have this length of time off free again, it seems like now is the perfect time to try. With a rigorous training plan, most of my time over the next 6 months will be dedicated to training and raising money to make all the effort incredibly worthwhile! 

 

I have chosen to support Parkinson's UK through Rotary Charity Fundraisers body. Parkinson's Disease, a disease that has no cure with an unknown cause, effects one in 500 in the UK. Having had personal experience with the disease through my late grandfather, I thought that the Ironman would be the perfect event to raise both money and awareness for the extraordinary charity. The money raised goes towards supporting people with the disease, and for funding cutting edge research projects in the quest for a cure.

 

Whilst as little as £2 could send a support package to an individual, £1000 could fully fund a cutting edge research programme for an entire week. Your help is greatly appreciated.

A percentage of the money raised also goes to the RCF charity causes, a brilliant way of raising money for a more diverse range of charities. Money raised is distributed between 5 principle causes (Life Education Centres, Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes and Cancer Research UK and Children's Hospices), whilst the RFC support my training and fundraising efforts (to raise as much as possible)!
